Programs Offered at OLPHOur parish offers a variety of programs for all ages. THEOSIS is a national Byzantine Catholic program that was designed by the Melkite Church. We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month, with a special theme from Eastern Christian theology or prayer as the focus. The evening includes supper and prayer time in the church. A team of four runs THEOSIS and brings in presenters monthly. SUNDAY SOCIAL takes place after the Divine Liturgy. Parishioners take turns hosting the Social, either for a special event (birthday, anniversary, baptism) or just to host the congregation and help with our socializing. CHOIR is open to all parishioners who enjoy singing. We especially try to train cantors who can lead special services in addition to the Divine Liturgy. BYZAN-TEENS is a program of Scripture study, basic Byzantine theology, social outings, and activities for our teenagers. Justin Bucalo is our Youth Minister, assisted by Chris Apodaca. The Teens meet in the Blanchette House monthly and have activities throughout the year. ALTAR SERVERS is open to all boys aged 7 and up, and male teens and adults alike. Servers assist at the holy altar at all liturgical services. Periodic practices and outings are held. GREETERS welcome all of our guests on Sunday morning with a handout on the Eastern Catholic Churches, an icon holy card, and a Liturgy book. We try to welcome our visitors by name, and all are invited to join the Sunday Social. TOGETHER LIVING IN CHRIST is a program of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe for couples who are dating, engaged, or married. It meets on the 3rd Saturday of the month in different parishes in the Albuquerque area, including our own. Art and Sharon Brito are the coordinators. |
